Even the best cared for pet dog or cat are troubled by fleas from time to time. It only takes a few fleas to start an infestation. The secret to on-going long term flea control relies on understanding and breaking the flea breeding cycle. Fleas produce up to 50 eggs per day and around 2000 eggs in their lifetime. So every flea you kill has hundreds of replacements waiting to hatch. In fact at any given time, 95% of the flea population are still in their immature stages around your house and garden.

Ticks are a common parasite of both dogs and people. Ticks are found primarily down the eastern seaboard and across the coastal north of Australia.
Ticks in Australia:
- Paralysis ticks are one of the biggest worries on pet owners' minds in eastern Australia. These ticks can cause paralysis and death in dogs and cats.
- Brown dog ticks are a serious pest in northern Australia, but can also be found in Queensland, New South Wales, Melbourne and the northern part of South Australia
- Bush ticks are not native to Australia and are common along the coasts of New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia and in parts of Victoria
The Paralysis tick is the single most dangerous parasite for dogs on the eastern coast of Australia. Just one tick is capable of causing paralysis and death.
The paralysis tick normally feeds on native animals like bandicoots and possums. Paralysis ticks attach to your dog or even you when you come in contact with them in the bush, the park or even your backyard. Regardless of the tick control you are using, checking your dog thoroughly for ticks every day is essential during the paralysis tick season.
