Why has my veterinarian recommended Panoramis?
Your veterinarian has recommended Panoramis to prevent your dog from developing problems caused by infection with three commonly occurring parasite categories.
Heartworm
Panoramis prevents heartworm infections.
Heartworm infection can make dogs very sick and can even be fatal. This parasite is transmitted by mosquitoes and matures in the dog's heart, lungs and nearby blood vessels. Heartworm is known as a silent killer as the infected dogs often do not show clinical signs until severe disease has developed.
Fleas
Panoramis can prevent flea infestations from becoming established, and also kills any fleas that are on your dog at the time of treatment.
Not only can fleas make your dog miserable, but depending on his/her age and overall physical condition, fleas can pose a serious threat to his/her health.
Intestinal worms
Panoramis treats and controls common adult intestinal worm infections (roundworms, hookworms and whipworms).
Intestinal parasites can affect your dog in various ways, such as weight loss, diarrhoea, vomiting, and even intestinal inflammation or blockage.
What if I see worms in my dog's faeces during the month after the administration of Panoramis?
Panoramis is indicated to treat and control intestinal parasite infections of adult hookworms, roundworms and whipworms. In occasional cases, it is possible that the action of Panoramis in killing the intestinal worms will lead to the dog expelling them in the stool. If you have questions, consult with your veterinarian for measures you can take to prevent a re-infection with intestinal parasites.
How do I switch to Panoramis from other heartworm preventatives?
Follow the advice of your veterinarian about switching heartworm preventatives.
What should I discuss with my veterinarian about the suitability of Panoramis for my dog?
Your veterinarian is your dog's healthcare expert and can make the best recommendation for medications for your dog. This includes the prevention, control and/or treatment of parasites such as fleas, heartworms and intestinal parasites that may cause conditions that include flea allergy dermatitis, anaemia and heart disease.
How should I administer Panoramis?
Give Panoramis monthly with food for maximum effectiveness. To help you remember the monthly dosing schedule, stick-on labels are included for your calendar.
How quickly will Panoramis kill fleas?
In a laboratory study, spinosad, an active ingredient of Panoramis started to kill fleas within 30 minutes and killed 100% of the fleas within 4 hours1. Panoramis kills fleas so quickly that they do not get a chance to lay eggs.
Can I split the tablets between my dogs?
No. The Panoramis tablets are not suitable to split between your dogs. Panoramis has 5 convenient weight ranges to cater for dogs of virtually all sizes.
Does seeing fleas on my dog mean that the treatment is not working?
Panoramis kills fleas before they can lay eggs. Remember that all animals in the household should be treated with an approved flea product to help control the flea population. Your dog can continue to be exposed to the fleas that live in the environment. When fleas jump onto your dog, they will be killed by Panoramis. If within a month after your dog receives Panoramis, you see fleas on your dog, it is most likely that these are new fleas. These new fleas will be killed before they can produce eggs that contaminate the environment. Continued monthly use of Panoramis can prevent any new infestations.
Will Panoramis rub or wash off?
No. As Panoramis is an oral tablet and doesn't rub or wash off.
Making it suitable for:
- Dog owners who dislike mess and inconvenience
- Households with children or other pets
- Dogs that swim or are washed frequently
- Dogs with dermatological (skin) conditions requiring topical therapy
Is it safe to give my breeding dogs Panoramis?
Ask your veterinarian about the use of Panoramis prior to administering to breeding females. The safe use of Panoramis in male dogs intended for breeding has not been evaluated.
Is Panoramis suitable for use with other medications that my dog may be on?
Panoramis has been given safety with a wide variety of products and medications.
However, as with all products, prior to administering Panoramis you should ensure that your veterinarian is made aware of all products that you have administered to your dog or intend to administer to your dog.
What makes Panoramis different to Comfortis?
Both Panoramis and Comfortis contain the revolutionary active, spinosad that provides fast-acting flea control.
In addition to spinosad, Panoramis also contains milbemycin oxime to provide proven protection against heartworm and intestinal worms in the convenience of a chewable tablet.
Consult your veterinarian about the appropriate product for your dog.
