Indications Monthly treatment prevents heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis) infection; controls adult roundworm (Toxocara canis and Toxascaris leonina), immature roundworm (Toxocara canis), adult whipworm (Trichuris vulpis), adult hookworm (Ancylostoma caninum), adult tapeworm (Echinococcus granulosus, Taenia pisiformis and Dipylidium caninum), aids in the control of adult hookworm (Uncinaria stenocephala) infection, provides long term protection and control of flea (Ctenocephalides felis) infestations, and forms part of a treatment strategy for flea allergy dermatitis in dogs.
Flea allergy dermatitis (FAD). The most important part of the treatment of FAD is preventing flea bites. Lufenuron reduces the number of fleas in the pet's environment to a negligible level. Treatment with lufenuron for several months has been shown to dramatically improve the clinical signs of FAD in dogs.
Warnings Dogs should be tested and be free from both adult heartworm and microfilariae before starting on preventative treatment with Sentinel Spectrum.
Precautions Sentinel Spectrum provides a wide margin of safety in dogs when used according to label directions. Milbemycin oxime combined with lufenuron has been tested in over 75 different breeds of dogs, including pregnant females, breeding males and females, and puppies from 2 weeks of age. Satisfactory margins of safety have been demonstrated for both milbemycin oxime and praziquantel when administered during all reproductive phases.

Disposal. Dispose of empty containers by wrapping with paper and putting in garbage.
Adverse Reactions The following adverse reactions have been reported in dogs: vomiting, diarrhoea, depression/lethargy and pruritus. Some mild, transient, shock-like reactions have occurred when treating heartworm-positive dogs carrying a high number of microfilariae at the time of the first treatment with milbemycin oxime.
Overdosage In the case of overdosing, transient ataxia, trembling, depression, salivation and mydriasis may be observed for up to approximately 24 hours. There is no specific antidote.
Dosage and Administration Prevention of heartworm, control of intestinal worms and fleas. Treat with Sentinel Spectrum every month, preferably on the same date each month. Give tablet with a full meal. Very small dogs (< 4 kg). Give 1 tablet from brown pack. Small dogs (4 to 11 kg). Give 1 tablet from green pack. Medium dogs (11 to 22 kg). Give 1 tablet from yellow pack. Large dogs (22 to 45 kg). Give 1 tablet from white pack. Very large dogs (> 45 kg). Dose with the appropriate combination of tablets according to bodyweight. Puppies. Treatment should start at 2 weeks of age. The minimum treatment recommended is at 2, 4, 8 and 12 weeks. Growing puppies may gain sufficient weight during the course of treatment to require an increased dose of Sentinel Spectrum. Pregnant bitches. Treat at mating and then every month. Ensure there is a treatment prior to whelping.
Missed dose protection. If a regular monthly treatment is missed by 15 days or less, administer Sentinel Spectrum immediately and resume monthly dosing schedule. If a dose is missed by 15 to 30 days, heartworm prevention can be maintained if the dog is dosed immediately and then maintained on regular monthly dosing for the next two months. If a period of more than 60 days has elapsed since the last dose, veterinary consultation is recommended.
Integrated flea control. For best results, give Sentinel Spectrum throughout the year without interruption. Ensure all dogs and cats within the household are given a flea preventative. Sentinel Spectrum does not kill adult fleas. If a high adult flea burden is present at the start of treatment with Sentinel Spectrum, administer a product registered for use against adult fleas until the adult flea population is reduced. Initially, treatment of the pet's environment may also be recommended for severe flea infestations.
